In the afternoon of January 26, the establishment ceremony of the Chinese Painting Research Institute of Southeast University and the donation ceremony of Gu Weixi's work “Pine Tree of Six Dynasties” were convened at Sipailou Campus of Southeast University. Chen Huanyou, former Jiangsu Provincial Party Secretary, Qin Zhigang, former Vice Chairman of Chinese Federation of Literary and Art Circles, Huang Gesheng, former Central Vice Chairman of Zhi Gong Party, Vice Chairman of C. P. P. C. C. of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Vice Chairman of Chinese Artists Association, Xu Ning, Deputy Director of the Propaganda Department of Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee, Yu Bo, Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of Anhui Weather Bureau, Zuo Wei, Secretary of the Party Committee of Southeast University, Ren Lijian, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission, of Southeast University, leaders, experts and principals of school departments and colleges attended the establishment ceremony, which was presided over by Wang Tingxin, Dean of the School of Art of Southeast University.
At the unveiling ceremony, Ren Lijian first delivered a speech on behalf of the school and Huang Gesheng also delivered a speech as therepresentative. Chen Huanyou and Zuo Wei jointly unveiled the Chinese Painting Research Institute. Later, Professor Gu Weixi, Director of the Chinese Painting Research Institute of Southeast University, donated a huge Chinese painting, “Pine Trees of Six Dynasties” to the school. Ren Lijian accepted the donation on behalf of the school and issued the collection certificate to him.
After the unveiling ceremony, the guests visited the pine tree of six dynasties and Mei An within the campus, and held a symposium about the establishment of the Chinese Painting Research Institute of Southeast University at the conference room of Mei An. Experts and scholars shared suggestions for the development of the Chinese Painting Research Institute, and proposed precious comments and suggestions.
In the history of Chinese art education and the history of Chinese painting, Southeast University holds an important position and initiates the modern Chinese art education. Upon the establishment of the Chinese Painting Research Institute of Southeast University, it will adhere to the fine traditions, focus on sorting the art education history and the history of Chinese painting of Southeast University, and effectively utilize academic resources both inside and outside the school so as to establish an academic platform for personnel training, theoretical research and artistic creation.(School of Art)
