On January 8th, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Sate Council held the State Science and Technology Awarding Meeting in Beijing. Party and state leaders Xi Jinping, Li Keqiang, Zhang Gaoli, Wang Huning attended the meeting and presented awards to prize winners. The 2017 State Science and Technology Awards were given to 271 projects and 9 scientists. Six projects of Southeast University won awards, and SEU is the first completion unit for four projects awarded. This achievement of the university ranks the sixth among universities around the country.
The four awarded projects in which SEU worked as the first completion unit cover fields of natural science, technological invention, and scientific and technological progress. The project “Fundamental Research on Molecular Ferroelectric” leading by Prof. Xiong Rengen of School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering won the second award of natural science. The project “Key Technology for Civil Engineering Structure Distributed Optical Fiber Sensor and Monitoring” leading by Prof. Wu Zhishen of School of Civil Engineering, and the project “Force Sense and Feedback Technology of Human-computer Interaction Teleoperation Robot” leading by Prof. Song Aiguo of School of Instrument and Meter Engineering won the second awards of technological progress. The project “Industrial Intelligent Ultrasonic Testing Theory and Application Technology” leading by Prof. Ding Hui of School of Material Science and Engineering won the second award of scientific and technological progress. The cooperating projects, “Research on Key Technology and Clinic Application of Accurate Radiotherapy for Lung Cancer” participated by Prof. Shu Huazhong etc., and special project participated by Prof. Lu Xiaobo and Prof. Lu Jian won the second awards of scientific and technological progress.
Since 2010, Southeast has won 25 awards as the first completion unit, including one first award of scientific and technological progress, 13 second awards of scientific and technological progress, 4 second awards of natural science, one first award of technological invention, and 6 second awards of technological invention.
