Professor Wang Jianguo Elected as member of Chinese Academy of Engineering

In December 7th, the Chinese Academy of Engineering published the 2015 co-opted members of academicians. The election went through a primary process performed by different departments and a final vote by all academicians. At last, 70 new academicians were elected, among whom 34 came from colleges and universities. Professor Wang Jianguo in School of Architecture, SEU was elected as the academician of civil engineering, water conservation and construction project department. By now, School of Architecture in SEU has fostered four academicians, they are Qi Kang, Zhong Xunzheng, Cheng Taining and Wang Jianguo. And SEU possesses 13 academicians in total.

Wang Jianguo was born in 1957. He was admitted to Nanjing Institute of Technology in 1978 and got his doctor degree there. He has been working as a teacher in Southeast Universty since 1989 and successively held the posts of Director of Construction Department, Deans of Architecture Institute and the distinguished professor of “Cheung Kong Scholars Programme”. He is also the winner of National Science Fund for Outstanding Young Scholars and a member of Global Forum on Human Settlements.

Academician Wang has been devoting himself to urban design and the field of architecture, focusing on research, teaching and engineering practice. He has achieved a series of high-tech achievements in many areas, involving the theory and method of modern urban design, application of digital techniques in modern urban design and the creation of architectural design and heritage protection.
