SEU Engineering Ranks 22nd In the World, 6th In China

        U.S.News & World Report, a leading U.S.-based publisher of education analysis and rankings, recently unveiled the inaugural Best Global Universities and Subject Rankings.

In the 2016 Best Global Universities for Engineering published by U.S. News & World Report, Tsinghua University overtakes MIT and ranks first. SEU ranks 22nd globally with the total score of 82.9(moving up by 9 positions than 2015) and 6th in Mainland China(global ranking: Tsinghua University 1st, Zhejiang University 4th, Harbin Institute of Technology 7th, Shanghai Jiao Tong University 11th, Huazhong University of Science and Technology 19th). The ranking is the outcome of comprehensive engineering analysis and takes fields such as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and civil engineering into consideration.



According to the published Best Global Universities for Computer Science, SEU ranks34th in the world with the total score of 64.9(moving up by 16 positions than 2015) and 5th in Mainland China(global ranking: Tsinghua University 5th, Huazhong University of Science and Technology & Shanghai Jiao Tong University 21st, Zhejiang University 23rd). The ranking is formulated after comprehensive assessment of multi-disciplinary computer science including soft engineering, artificial intelligence theory, programming languages, information systems and information technology.



Besides, SEU has another three subjects sprinted into Global 300, separately material science(97th), mathematics(114th) and chemistry(214th). To produce the rankings, which are powered by Thomson Reuters InCitesTM research analytics solutions, U.S. News will use a methodology that focuses on factors that measure research performance. Specifically, the ranking indicators will include those that measure a university's global and regional reputation; academic research performance using bibliometric indicators such as citations and publications; and school-level data on faculty and Ph.D. Graduates.


In the published 2016 Best Global Universities Rankings, there are all together 30 universities in Mainland China that are on the shortlist of Global 500. Among them, SEU ranks 359th (moving up by 39 than 2015) in the world, 53rd in Asia(moving up by 9 than 2015) and 19th in Mainland China(moving up by 1 than 2015).
